Halloween Events for Kids in Tokyo (2026)

If you’re a parent in Tokyo and wondering about Halloween events for kids in the city, you’ve come to the right place.
Halloween is becoming quite popular in Japan, and thankfully, alongside all the cute decorations you’ll see in shops, there are also plenty of spooky things to do. Well, not too spooky, this is Japan after all, so Halloween has certainly been kawaii-fied!
In this article, I’ll share my picks for safe, kid-friendly Halloween events in Tokyo that are bound to be a hit for the whole family.
2026 Halloween Events for Kids in Tokyo
Sanrio Puroland
Sanrio Puroland holds a Halloween event every year. Characters like Hello Kitty are dressed in adorable Halloween costumes and they hold Halloween-themed shows. There are fun Halloween-themed photo spots, spooky food, and souvenirs as well.
For 2026, the Halloween event is called PUROMONSTERSCRAMBLE. Sanrio characters dress up as adorable monsters, and there are Halloween-themed shows, photo spots, food, and limited-edition merchandise.
The event is being held from September 11th to November 3rd, 2026. For more information, check the Sanrio Puroland website.

Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea
I absolutely loved taking my daughter to her first Tokyo Disney Halloween. She really wanted to go again this year but unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out.
The Tokyo Disney parks boast Halloween parades where characters like Mickey and Donald are in awesome spooky costumes, fireworks to Halloween music, Halloween decorations throughout the park, and Halloween-themed Disney souvenirs and food.
The Haunted Mansion also becomes a ride featuring The Nightmare Before Christmas! I was worried my daughter might be a little scared (despite being a fan of the movie) but she was so tired that she fell asleep and seemed fine during the brief periods she woke up.
This is also the only time during the year that adults are allowed to wear Disney costumes to the parks, so it might be fun to do a family costume.
Note that many Halloween souvenirs sell out fast, especially the Mickey ghost ones, so the earlier you can go, the better.
Tokyo Disney’s Halloween event is being held from September 16th to October 31st, 2026.
One important thing to know if you want to dress up is that adults can no longer wear full Disney character costumes throughout the entire Halloween period. In 2026, full costumes are allowed from September 15th-30th and October 16th-31st, but not from October 1st-15th.

Tokyo Tower City Light Fantasia
From mid-September until Halloween day, Tokyo Tower will be showing ghostly projections on its windows in the evening.
On Halloween (October 31st), the tower will be lit up in Halloween colors!
The windows of the Main Deck will also be covered in Halloween-themed projections featuring things like witches, bats, jack-o’-lanterns, and autumn scenery, with the Tokyo skyline visible behind them.

Kichijoji Halloween Festival
This is a Halloween event for kids held in Kichijoji, a neighborhood in western Tokyo, at the end of October. There’s a parade, a trick-or-treating event, and a photo contest.
In 2026, the festival is being held from October 23rd to October 25th.

Harajuku Omotesando Hello Halloween Pumpkin Parade
This is a long-running Halloween event in Japan. In fact, the first Halloween parade in Japan was held by Harajuku Kiddy Land, which is now a sponsor of the event.
The event has a parade for kids ages 12 and under, a trick-or-treating event (sweets rally) with stores in the area, fun booths, and Halloween-themed food.
This event will be held on October 25th, 2026, and you need to preregister to participate.
Futako-Tamagawa Halloween Party
This is a huge and free two-day Halloween event where kids can do Halloween crafts, enjoy food, take photos, and participate in other activities.
In 2026, it’ll be held on October 24th and 25th from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Yumenoshima Tropical Greenhouse Dome
I took my daughter here when she was a toddler so that she could see massive autumn pumpkins, and we all had a great time! They have some cute Halloween decorations throughout as well.
For 2026, the Yumenetsu Halloween Garden is being held from September 29th to November 1st.

Yomiuriland Halloween
Yomiuriland is also holding a big Halloween event in 2026, and there are quite a few activities aimed specifically at kids.
Children can dress up, join Halloween dance shows, see bubble and street performances, and say “Trick or Treat” after riding certain attractions to receive candy. There are also staff dressed as pumpkins handing out sweets around the park.
If you visit on certain weekends and holidays wearing a Halloween costume, you can also get a discount on the One-Day Pass.
The Halloween event runs from September 26th to November 1st, 2026, although some activities are only held on weekends and holidays.
Tokyo Skytree Halloween
Tokyo Skytree also has some smaller Halloween activities that could be fun if you’re already planning to visit.
From October 1st to October 31st, Skytree mascot Sorakara-chan will appear in a special Halloween costume, and there will be Halloween photo opportunities on the observation deck.
From October 17th to October 31st, kids can also say “Trick or Treat” to certain staff members to receive an original Halloween sticker.
Tokyo Skytree will also have special Halloween lighting on October 29th and October 31st.
Halloween Afternoon Tea in Tokyo
I went to several Halloween afternoon teas in Tokyo and loved each experience.
Hotels in Tokyo holding Halloween afternoon tea this year include the following:
ANA Intercontinental Tokyo: Halloween Afternoon Tea Boost from October 1st-31st, 2026. This one is a little different from a traditional afternoon tea because you get plenty of savory dishes and meat as well as Halloween sweets. Some of the Halloween desserts include finger biscuits, pumpkin custard tarts, dark chocolate mousse, and purple sweet potato cream.
Grand Hyatt Tokyo: Halloween Afternoon Tea from October 1st-31st, 2026. The afternoon tea has lots of cute Halloween-themed sweets, including ghost cheesecake, pumpkin monster choux cream, purple sweet potato roll cake, and bat-themed chocolate.
Halloween Buffets in Tokyo
I didn’t have the chance to go to a Halloween buffet in Tokyo with my child but I did go in Osaka and we had a great time!
I love how creative the Halloween-themed dishes are, and they can give you some great ideas about what to make at home if you’re hosting a Halloween party.
Prince Hotel in Sunshine City (Ikebukuro): The Halloween Monster Party Sweets Buffet has some really fun Halloween desserts, including ghost roll cake, eyeball macarons, colorful pumpkin mousse, and even a dessert designed to look like an eyeball floating in a jar.
The buffet is held on weekends and holidays from September 5th-27th, and then from October 1st-31st, 2026.
ANA InterContinental Tokyo: The Autumn & Halloween Buffet at Cascade Cafe has a large selection of international dishes as well as Halloween-themed desserts. There are both lunch and dinner buffets.

Where to Buy Candy and Costumes in Tokyo
Halloween candy in Tokyo can be found at grocery stores, Kaldi Coffee Farm, and Don Quijote.
You can find Halloween costumes at Nishimatsuya, Babies R Us, Akachan Honpo, Don Quijote, and Flying Tiger. More information on shops for kids in Tokyo can be found in this article.
There are also simple Halloween costumes such as headbands at 100 yen stores such as Daiso.
