Traveling to Japan and wondering where to get Sailor Moon merchandise?

From manga to figures, in this article, I’ll share my favorite places to find Sailor Moon items for sale. These can be found in major cities such as Tokyo and Osaka.

Official Sailor Moon Store

Sailor Moon store in Tokyo

The best place to get Sailor Moon merchandise is the Sailor Moon Store in Tokyo’s Harajuku district.

This store, located in the basement of LaForet, is not only beautifully decorated, but it also carries limited-edition items you won’t find anywhere else. There is also framed original art by Naoko Takeuchi herself!

And look at this amazing photo spot! I love it so much.

Note that you cannot take videos inside the store.

KIDDY LAND

KIDDY LAND is a toy store with locations throughout Japan, and many of these carry a small selection of new Sailor Moon items.

Here are the KIDDY LAND locations I recommend checking out:

If you want to ask staff where to find Sailor Moon merchandise, say, “Se-ra-moon no guzzu arimasuka?”(Do you have Sailor Moon goods?)

Mandarake

This store sells a plethora of second-hand anime and manga goods, including Sailor Moon. They usually have a glass display case of retro Sailor Moon items in their stores, so it’s a great place to get goods from the 90s.

My favorite Mandarake locations include:

Nakano Broadway

Nakano Broadway is a mall that has a ton of shops selling vintage anime and manga goods. You can easily spend an entire day here just browsing the stores.

If you’re a fan of retro goods or old-school anime, this is a must-visit location. As someone who lived in Tokyo for seven years and in a location quite close to Akihabara, I think Nakano Broadway is far better. (I’ve also heard that stores in Akihabara are overcharging now for goods because it has become a popular tourist destination.)

How to Get There

Surugaya (駿河屋)

I’m going to be honest and say that this second-hand anime merch store has hiked up prices in popular tourist destinations like Osaka and Tokyo.

Before the Japan boom, I got a ton of great deals on Sailor Moon goods from here. Lately though, not so much.

However, I still recommend checking out if there’s a Surugaya near you. Even better if you’re outside of Tokyo and Osaka because you might get better prices.

BOOK-OFF

BOOK-OFF is a second-hand store that sells everything from books to clothes as well as anime and manga goods.

Their selection isn’t nearly as good as Mandarake’s but sometimes they carry Sailor Moon items, especially Q posket figures (crane game prizes) for a great price.

Here are the ones I got for my daughter from BOOK-OFF for 500 yen each, and these were brand new in their boxes and never used!

There are tons of BOOK-OFF locations throughout the country so simply search on Google Maps and I guarantee one close to you will pop up.

Gacha Machines

Gacha machines will carry Sailor Moon items from time to time.

Search the official Bandai Gashapon website to see if they’re carrying Sailor Moon gatcha and where you can find it.

Mercari

Mercari is a second-hand online marketplace and the Japanese version (I believe the original?) has a ton of Sailor Moon goods for excellent prices.

Since I live in Japan, I often purchase Sailor Moon merchandise from Mercari and find that the prices can be cheaper than buying directly from stores sometimes. I’ve gotten a lot of great vintage items from the 90s as well.
