If you’re thinking of going to the Sapporo Snow Festival in 2027, you might be wondering where you should stay.
The Sapporo Snow Festival (Yuki Matsuri) is an international event that runs from February 4th to 11th and attracts visitors from around the world. Its popularity, both with domestic and international guests, means that finding a good hotel, and fast, is essential.
In this article, I’ll share the best hotels to stay at that will keep you close to the action so you can enjoy everything the festival has to offer.
Where to Stay Near Sapporo Snow Festival (Yuki Matsuri)
The Sapporo Snow Festival has three main locations: Odori, Susukino, and Tsudome. Odori and Susukino are in the heart of Sapporo, while Tsudome is a little bit further.
Odori and Susukino are quite close to each other, less than 10 minutes on foot, so I recommend staying near Odori if you want to be within walking distance of two of the main snow festival sites. Susukino, being downtown Sapporo, also has lots of restaurants and shopping, meaning there’s a lot to do apart from just the festival.

Here are hotels I recommend near Odori and Susukino, based on my own experience staying at them, as well as ones I would like to stay at.
The Royal Park Canvas Odori Park
This is the closest hotel to the Odori site of the Sapporo Snow Festival. In fact, it’s only a minute on foot from Odori Park and Odori Station! How convenient is that?
This fashionable hotel has a rooftop terrace with camping vibes and firepits. Notably, rooms have vinyl players in them and you can borrow records! (I’m fairly certain my brother would LOVE to stay here.)
The largest rooms are 30 square meters.
La’gent Stay Sapporo Odori

I stayed at this hotel with my family, and we thought it was in a perfect and super convenient location. It’s less than 10 minutes on foot from Odori Park, and we could also walk to Susukino in a little over five minutes!
I also loved the onsen bath here, which is perfect after spending a day out in the snow.
Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery Collection
Although it’s a 10-minute walk away from Odori Park, this hotel is extremely classy, modern, and spacious. It’s also only 12-minutes on foot from Sapporo Station.
Rooms are about twice the size of what you would typically find at hotels in Sapporo, making it great for families as well. (Kids stay for free.)
JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo
The hotel is directly connected to Sapporo Station, which makes it especially convenient, particularly if you’re traveling to and from New Chitose Airport and want to avoid train transfers. It’s also only 11 minutes on foot from Odori Park.
Adult guests can also use the Sky Resort Spa, a hot spring onsen with city views. On-site, there are three restaurants plus a lounge.
Just because kids aren’t allowed in the spa, this doesn’t mean it’s not kid-friendly. If you have young children, you can rent a crib for an extra fee, and the hotel offers helpful kid gear like bath chairs, diaper pails/“diaper genies,” step stools, bed rails, and children’s nightwear.
Another plus: the rooms are larger than the typical Japanese hotel room, and the bathrooms are Japanese-style, with the shower area separated from the bathtub.
SAPPORO STREAM HOTEL
This new hotel opened only two years ago, and although it’s about 10 minutes from Odori Park, it’s connected to Susukino Station, which makes it very convenient.
This is another hotel that has a public bath, this one overlooking the city.
Villa Koshido Kotoni
If you’re finding the hotel prices during the Sapporo Snow Festival to be crazy expensive, you’re not alone.
When we last visited the Sapporo Snow Festival, we were too late to book any good and spacious hotels, and the ones remaining were too expensive for what they offered.
So, we stayed at Villa Koshido Kotoni. This is an apartment hotel located about a 11 minute train ride from Odori Station to Kotoni Station, and then a 5-minute walk. It is super spacious with a kitchenette, making it perfect for long-term stays, not to mention incredibly affordable compared to the hotels near Odori and Susukino.
