Kyoto Castle, Golden Pavilion and Silver Pavilion worth...
Kyoto Castle, Golden Pavilion and Silver Pavilion worth seeing and walking back down the Philosophers Path. Pontocho area by the river is atmospheric, Gion Corner (show) was enjoyable. However, the Higashiyama area between Kodai-ji and Kiyomizu-dera was chock full of tour groups when we visited one afternoon. Maybe a very early morning or evening visit would be better.

Kyoto is an amazing city, and well-connected to other cities/towns in Kansai area. It is a bit crowded due to tourism but if the crowds are too much, simply take a day trip to the mountains and nature around! Nice place to visit if interested in taking a short or long walks. They have so many shrines and Temples. Kyoto have good shopping malls and restaurants that cater for all budgets. Lovely place to visit. Highly recommended.

The top attractions are worth doing but super super busy and crowded . There are no ‘ best times’ so it’s worth managing those expectations. Kyoto station itself by night ( upstairs) is vibrant with light shows . It’s more of an art and design centre than a station !

Beautiful historical city like any other in the world. I recommend to visit local temples and shrines outside of the usual turist tracks because they are sometimes even more beautiful than the most famous ones. The are quiet and you can pray there calmly.AAnonymousCzech Republic

We truly recommend taking the half-board option as every meal (breakfast or dinner) was as amazing as it was delicious. The true Ryokan experience also with our futons which were laid down by the staff while we were eating dinner in the hotel restaurant and these futons were put away while we were having breakfast. It's also easy walking distance the main shopping areas and the Gion area. The hotel is also very attractive overall, but especially the front, lobby, and sentou areas. The rooms seems to choose looks over function in a number of places where I would prefer better function, but the rooms did look good (overall).

We watched the sunset at the nearby river while drinking coffee, had walked throught the streets of Gion at night, walked through temples in the morning. Starbucks at 1st floor and outside is full of japanese street foods. Good hotel breakfast, the rooms were clean and big enough, good ammenities. Loved my stay here for 5days in Kyoto.
